The Complete Guide to Making the Most of Your Stay on Two Wheels.
Positano is one of the most enchanting and famous places on the Amalfi Coast, known worldwide for its colorful houses clinging to the rock, narrow streets filled with artisan shops and typical restaurants, and breathtaking views over the crystal blue sea.
A favorite destination for international tourists and beauty lovers, Positano fascinates with its unique combination of elegance, history, and natural landscape. However, due to its particular vertical structure and narrow streets, getting around can be complicated, especially during the summer months, when finding parking or moving quickly by car and public transport becomes very difficult.
For this reason, the scooter is considered the ideal means to explore Positano and the beauties of the Coast: it allows you to move freely, quickly, and practically, transforming your journey into an unforgettable experience.
Why choose a scooter to move around the Amalfi Coast
Cars, buses, and taxis are not always the most convenient choice:
- Traffic along the coast can be very intense.
- Parking spots for cars are few and expensive.
- Buses are often crowded and subject to delays.
- Taxis have high costs even for short journeys.
With a scooter, however:
- You can easily reach beaches, scenic spots, and hidden villages.
- You save time, avoid parking stress, and are free to stop wherever you like.
- You can explore at your own pace, without relying on schedules or third-party services.
Whether you want to discover the beauties of Positano or move towards other locations, the scooter is the perfect vehicle to enjoy every moment.

Positano by Scooter: Complete Guide to Exploring the Amalfi Coast
If you have decided to explore the Amalfi Coast by scooter, you have made a perfect choice.
Before setting off on your itinerary, however, it is important to know how to move around and park, starting right from Positano, the ideal starting point for visiting the entire Coast.
Where to park the scooter in Positano?
Positano has specific rules for scooters, and it is essential to know them to avoid surprises:
In Positano, there are no public parking spaces dedicated to scooters:
- No blue or white lines for scooters
- Only yellow lines reserved for residents
- It is mandatory to use private parking lots
We recommend riding your scooter down to Piazza dei Mulini, where the pedestrian area begins. Here you will find Parcheggio Di Gennaro, the most convenient and closest to the center. Rates are the same in all parking lots in Positano.
Where to park the scooter at night in Positano?
If you have rented a scooter in Positano, it is important to know how to arrange for overnight parking, as there are no public on-street parking spaces for scooters.
Many hotels and B&Bs have private parking or agreements with external parking lots. We recommend asking your accommodation directly.
EasyRent24H customers are entitled to a 50% discount on overnight parking at Parcheggio Di Gennaro, just a few steps from the pedestrian area. The discounted cost is €10 for the entire night, until 8:00/9:00 in the morning.
If you are staying in the district of Montepertuso, the situation is different: there, it is possible to park for free along the road, and the police allow it, making the area very convenient for leaving the scooter overnight.
Praiano: The Next Stop After Positano
Leaving behind the lively atmosphere of Positano, in just a few minutes by scooter you can reach Praiano, a quiet and authentic village nestled between the cliffs. Located along the coastal road between Positano and the Fiordo di Furore, Praiano is the ideal choice for those seeking a relaxing break with sea views, away from mass tourism.
Here, time seems to pass more slowly, with silent alleys, spectacular sunsets, and warm hospitality. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a coffee with a view or a romantic walk at sunset.
Fiordo di Furore: A Natural Wonder Among the Rocks
Continuing by scooter along the coast, immediately after leaving Praiano, you will encounter one of the most suggestive stops along the entire Coast: the Fiordo di Furore.
This narrow and spectacular inlet, nestled between rocky cliffs that plunge into the sea, is a true symbol of the area. The hidden beach between the rocks is accessible on foot from the bridge via a panoramic staircase.
There is no official parking for scooters, but many visitors leave their vehicles on the sides of the road, under the rocks.
Attention:
- Avoid leaning the scooter against the wall to prevent damage.
- The police are generally tolerant, but parking is not guaranteed, especially during high season.
- A stop here is short but unforgettable, perfect for taking some photos, a refreshing swim, or simply admiring the force of nature.
Grotta dello Smeraldo – Conca dei Marini: A Stop Between Light and Magic
Continuing along the coastal road towards Amalfi, after passing the Fiordo di Furore, you will encounter another fascinating and unique place: the Grotta dello Smeraldo, located in the territory of Conca dei Marini.
This natural cave is famous for its intense green reflections on the water, created by sunlight filtering through an underwater crevice, and for the impressive rock formations that make it truly scenic.
You can visit it in two ways:
- From above, leaving the scooter in the dedicated area along the coastal road and descending by elevator or staircase.
- From the sea, by joining a short boat trip departing from Amalfi.
- The visit is guided, brief but very suggestive, and represents a perfect break along the route for those who love nature and the surprising spectacles of the marine landscape.
Amalfi: History, Sea, and Mediterranean Charm
After leaving Conca dei Marini, the panoramic road leads you in a few minutes to Amalfi, one of the most famous and fascinating stops along the Coast. Once a glorious maritime republic, today Amalfi captivates visitors with its majestic Cathedral, history-rich alleys, artisan shops, and vibrant sea life.
It’s the ideal place for a longer stop: you can visit the Cathedral of Saint Andrew with its impressive staircase, enjoy a lemon granita in the square, explore the streets of the historic center, or relax on the waterfront.
Where to park the scooter in Amalfi:
Blue lines are present along the main road leading to the port: make sure to pay the ticket and display it properly.
At the end of the port area, there is a private parking lot, convenient and safe, perfect if you plan a longer stop.
Atrani: A Small Gem Between Sea and Tradition
Continuing just beyond Amalfi, after a short tunnel, on the right you will find the entrance to Atrani, one of the smallest and most authentic villages in Italy.
Attention to ZTL:
- Right after the tunnel from Amalfi, turn right.
- Park the scooter and immediately purchase a ticket.
- The area is under ZTL: if you don’t have the ticket, the fine is automatic.
Ravello: Art, Music, and Timeless Panoramas
Famous for its panoramic gardens, classical music concerts, and refined atmosphere, Ravello is one of the most fascinating stops in the Amalfi hinterland.
Sorrento: The Pearl of the Sorrento Peninsula, in the Opposite Direction
From Positano, you can reach Sorrento in about 40 minutes by scooter, where you can explore Piazza Tasso, the Cloister of San Francesco, and Villa Comunale, with its panoramic terrace.
